August 2014 - Clearing trees

CLEARING TREES -
On 8 August 2014 we cleared about a dozen trees from the site - this gave a clear building envelope and a blank canvas to plan our landscaping. Most of the trees were in poor condition and some presented a risk of falling (like a supersized Silky Oak).

We were fortunate that, although we are building within one of the most restrictive Council areas in NSW, laws were passed in July 2014 to allow vegetation clearing within a certain distance from homes under Rural Fire Service laws. The rules were reviewed and made much tighter in September so we were fortunate to fell during this narrow window of time.

Dead liquid amber pushing up the driveway - the first to go!
Pine tree blocking the northern light, causing damp in the front rooms and obscuring the façade

Tree debris filling the entire rear yard - felt a bit guilty at this point!

Our 'big' girl helping Daddy dig out some stumps.
Goodbye tree debris and hello yard. One day you will be full of beautiful turf, swings and happy children! Can't wait!
